Service Management Qualification Scheme

Home

The primary objective of the Service Management Qualification Scheme (SMQS) is to help professionals working in the service management industry advance their careers by attaining credentials recognized worldwide as superior and relevant.

The credentials within the SMQS are role-based and focused on the key responsibilities, roles and skills required to successfully operate and manage a service organization.

The roles represented within the SMQS are a result of an initial 'Role Delineation Study' (RDS) conducted during the first part of 2008.  In a RDS the profession is divided into major content areas (knowledge domains), which are subsequently divided into tasks or (knowledge areas).  Tasks are further broken down into knowledge and skills.  Any examination scheme in support of credentials must be based upon a RDS.

The Society's Service Management Qualification Scheme Advisory Committee provides oversight into the scope and content of the SMQS curriculum.

Additional information about the SMQS is available from the menu opposite.  If you are interested in volunteering to work as part of the Advisory Committee please contact us.
