Service Management Role

Lean Service Manager role is an important and emerging role within a service organization, integrating the skillsets of a Service Manager and a Lean Service professional.  The role applies Lean Thinking and Lean methods to service management initiatives, ensuring a sustained focus on customer satisfaction, customer results, and operational efficiency through the elimination of wasteful activities.

The Lean methods used are universally applicable to all kinds of service organizations, including information technology departments providing information as a service.  The role leads and directs the design, development and implementation of a continuous improvement program as the primary means of propelling a self-funding service management initiative.

The primary reference for this role is the Guide to the Universal Service Management Body of Knowledge (USMBOK) publication, and approved Lean Thinking and associated Lean publications.  Associates receive a significant discount for the USMBOK to use at specific online stores. The USMBOK details the service management system and the roles involved in a service organization spanning the entire customer and technology continuum.
